Old things make me happy!

Jane Peacock - Friday, April 17, 2009
I went to the Padington Antiques Market and spent the day rummaging through the many nooks, looking for some kitch ceramic ornaments. I spent hours there and found so many fantastic pieces of vintage jewellery. There was even a goegeous collection of old bakalite purses from the 1920's.

As is always the way, I left with more than I planned on buying. The "Antiques Market" is kind of like the IKEA of the Antiques world.... just try to leave without buying something.

Here are the little cards I bought. They are all from around the 1940's. I love cards like this as they always have a little note on the back that gives you a glimpse of what time was like back then.

These 2 are by an illustrator called Mabel Lucie Atwell and she was working in the early 1900's. I love the one that says "What I like about work - is not doing it". The fact that 2 of the cards I bought were about NOT doing work might say something about the fact that I was avoiding doing work all day. yay!

The little bird card has a note to Gloria on her 10th Birthday - back in 8/11/1951. So this little 10 year old would now be 58 years old. What is she doing now I wonder!

I also bought some little ceramic ornaments that I am using for a new photo-shoot. I need more cute and kitsch ornaments... any ideas would be great! info@girlsmadethis.com

Rob Ryan packing tape.....

Jane Peacock - Monday, April 06, 2009
I recently received a present from my lovely friend Kylie from Paperboat Press. I am a huge fan of Rob Ryan's work and she gave me this fantastic packing tape featuring his artwork. Who would have thought that packing tape could be so gorgeous!!!!

It has inspired me to do something great with it. I'm thinking of doing a boarder around my window using the tape..... or framing my new blackboard decal with it. Any suggestions?

Artists, Bloggers and Designers

Jane Peacock - Monday, April 06, 2009
I was recently invited to the first ABCD night in Brisbane at the Powerhouse.

The event was on last night and it was a fantastic night!! There were so many great designers and bloggers that came out of the woodwork. Where do they all hide? I always thought Brisbane was too small for us all not to know each other. But is was such an awesome surprise to see so many high quality makers, bloggers, writers etc.

We all received a goody bag on the night that everyone contributed something to. Here are some of the goodies I received. These lovely tags from Bespoke Press

There was also a pencil from Paperboat Press. Kylie Johnson makes some of the most gorgeous ceramic tags and jewels and its well worth reading her blog www.instinctandgrace.blogspot.com as it it always brimming with inspiration and beautiful words.

There was also a little package from Sarah @ red felt flower. It was full of all the things she loves (and as it turns out... so do I!) Here is a picture ... now the fun begins as I decide what to do with it all... They are all even in my favourite colour.

I also had a chance to catch up with Erin from Blossom Creations ..... Erin did the show with us in Melbourne last year. I was surprised and excited to see that she is "glowing" and expects her first baby in july.... She is so lucky to be getting a little cancer baby boy. It couldn't hurt the world to have another one of those gorgeous boys out there.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies that were there! It makes me so excited to see all the fantastic things that are brewing in Brisbane. Maybe we can take over Melbourne as the creative city!!

Rob Ryan

Jane Peacock - Monday, February 16, 2009
I am a huge fan of ROB RYAN'S. I recently ordered his book "This is For You" and it blew me away. It is about love and about the time spent waiting for the person who is meant to be yours. Its written using his amazing paper cut artworks and well worth the look. I scoured bookstores and ended up buying it at amazon.

His work is also available at http://www.misterrob.co.uk

He has a store in London which I will be visiting soon. It is a small
